The nice stretch continues with cooler weather for mid to late week with a chilly/cold Wed night:

- A cold front will come through Tuesday night with only a slight chance of a shower for Long Island, and it will be cooler and breezy on Wednesday with a chilly (cold in New England) Wednesday night (see 3rd image) and cooler again on Thursday.

- Any rain for the weekend should hold off until Saturday night or Sunday, but there is still some uncertainty.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Sunny with highs in the low to mid 70's in Nassau and low 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the W/WSW at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear with lows mostly in the mid 50's. Wind out of the W/WSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow: Sunny with increasing high clouds late in the afternoon and becoming breezy with highs in the mid to upper 70's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower with lows mostly in the mid to upper 50's. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 20 mph before midnight and then out of the NNW then N at 10 to 15 mph by morning.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy early and then sunny, breezy, and cooler with highs in the mid 60's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNW at 15 to 20 mph with gusts over 25 mph.

Thursday: Sunny with highs in the low to mid 60's in Nassau and low 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the S at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Friday: Sunny with highs in the mid 60's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the SSE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of a shower in the afternoon with highs around 70 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Cloudy with a 70% chance of rain with highs around 70 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind mostly out of the SE at 10 to 15 mph.
