Very warm and humid with thunderstorms for Long Island and nearby areas today and mostly dry from tomorrow through Sunday as showers arrive on Memorial Day, especially late:

- The timing of the thunderstorms for Long Island generally looks like 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM from west to east. Not everyone will get a thunderstorm, but the potential is there for heavy downpours with a slight chance for hail and gusty winds. Probably some partial sunshine later, and it will be really warm and humid.

- Some scattered showers are possible for inland areas of the northeast on Saturday afternoon/night and only a slight chance of a shower at night closer to the coast. Sunday should be mostly dry in the northeast, and then rain approaches on Memorial Day from west to east with a steadier rain for the coast at night.
