A nice week ahead, and the weekend looks better than it looked previously, at least for now:

- Just a chance of a shower Wednesday evening from the cold front, but basically a dry week for Long Island, and at least for now, the weekend is looking mostly dry with the models now showing the system staying mostly south and southeast of us. Things can still change though, and maybe showers will eventually make it here on Memorial Day, but we'll see.

- The 2nd image shows the Model Blend rainfall map from now to 8 PM on Memorial Day.

- You can see below that next week is looking warmer than this week.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 70's, but cooler for the south shore and much cooler for the east end with highs in the low 60's. Wind out of the NE then E at around 10 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear t partly cloudy with high clouds with lows in the low 50's to near 50 degrees in Nassau and in the mid to upper 40's in Suffolk, but some low to mid 40's in the Pine Barrens area. Wind out of the E at 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60's in Nassau and mid to upper 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind around 10 mph from the ENE in the morning and E/SE in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear with lows near 50 degrees in Nassau and in the mid to upper 40's in Suffolk. Wind out of the SE at 5 to 10 mph in the evening and then nearly calm after midnight.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with highs in the low 70's in Nassau and around 70 degrees in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the SSW at around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday: Sunny and breezy with highs in the mid to upper 60's in Nassau and mid 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the N/NNE at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday: Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNE then E at around 10 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower with highs in the upper 60's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the E at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Partly sunny to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers with highs around 70 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the E at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
