- The humidity continues through Monday with periods of showers and thunderstorms for later Sunday into Monday with the best coverage for Long Island being Sunday night into Monday morning when some locally heavy downpours are likely. Much higher rainfall totals inland, as you can see in the maps below.
- Hot weather returns for Tuesday to Thursday next week, especially on Wednesday and with only moderate humidity for Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Very humid weather with periods of showers and thunderstorms return for late next week and the weekend.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Humid with cloudy skies early and then partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the SSE at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Very humid with increasing clouds early in the evening and then cloudy with a very slight chance of a light shower with lows in the low 70's in Nassau and around 70 in Suffolk. Wind out of the SSE at 5 to 10 mph in the evening and then nearly calm after midnight.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy to partly sunny and humid with a slight chance of an isolated shower with highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the SSE at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy and very humid with a 20% chance of a scattered shower, mainly after midnight, with lows mostly in the low 70's. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the evening and then less than 5 mph after midnight.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy and humid with an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible at any time, but with increased chances/coverage later in the day and especially at night with localized downpours. Highs in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the SE at around 10 mph in the afternoon.
Monday: Humid with some scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the morning to early afternoon with highs in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind generally out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday: Partly to mostly sunny and possibly only moderately humid with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid to upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind at 5 to 10 mph from the NNW in the morning and WSW by late afternoon.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny with moderate humidity and highs around 90 degrees in Nassau and northwestern Suffolk and in the upper 80's elsewhere, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the W at around 5 mph in the morning and then out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
