After today, the heat is on! The Long Island forecast and a quick look at the tropics and the 4th:

- It's going to be a hot and humid week in the northeast with extreme and historic heat in the Pacific northwest.

- Invest 95L is now down to a 10% chance of tropical development within the next 5 days, according to the NHC.

- Some of the Euro ensembles do develop the following wave, but nothing major to worry about yet.

- The Euro and Canadian have some rain for early in the 4th of July weekend, but they are showing dry weather for Long Island on the 4th and 5th, but the GFS has showers at times all weekend as the GFS has the upper level low farther east.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Mostly cloudy in the morning and then becoming partly sunny and breezy in the afternoon, and it will be humid with highs mostly in the upper 70's to around 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon with gusts up to 25 mph by the south shore.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy and humid with lows in the upper 60's to around 70 degrees. Wind out of the S to SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny, very warm, and humid with highs mostly in the mid to upper 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S to SSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs mostly in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S to SSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly sunny, hot, and humid with only a 20% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon or evening. Highs mostly in the low 90's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, hot, and humid with a 30% chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening with highs mostly in the upper 80's to around 90 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday: Partly cloudy, hot, and humid with a 40% chance of some showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Highs mostly in the upper 80's to around 90 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy and humid with a 50% chance of some showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end.
