An extended dry period for 8 days begins today with a cool weekend and a warming trend next week:

- Very dry and breezy conditions today will create an elevated risk of fire spread, especially areas north of Long Island, where a Red Flag Warning is in effect, with just a Special Weather Statement for Long Island.

- Cold nights this weekend and chilly days, but the warming trend starts on Monday, and you can see the temperatures below with warm weather for Wednesday to Friday next week.

- Clouds may be increasing on Friday, and some showers could reach us Friday night from a large cutoff upper level low that will be over the southeastern states.
