Beautiful weekend coming and no action expected in the tropics for the next 2 weeks!

- You can see the severe thunderstorm potential for today into tonight in the 2nd image.

- A very warm day tomorrow with highs reaching the upper 80's for parts of Long Island and 90 degrees for NYC.

- There is some uncertainty in the exact timing and intensity of showers for late this week, but the timing seems to have sped up, so it looks like a chance of some showers from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning or early afternoon.

- Temperatures will be a little below average this coming weekend, but it will be sunny with low humidity with highs mostly in the upper 70's to near 80 degrees for Long Island.

- No tropical storms or hurricanes are expected through at least July 20th.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Partly sunny in the morning and mostly cloudy and breezy in the afternoon with a 30% chance of a shower by mid to late afternoon with highs mostly in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 10 to 20 mph with gusts over 25 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Cloudy, humid, and windy with scattered showers and possibly a rumble of thunder with lows around 70 degrees. Wind out of the SSW at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy, very warm, and a little less humid in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 60's. Wind out of the N at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny in the morning and then mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers in the afternoon with highs mostly in the upper 70's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the ESE at 10 to 15 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy and humid with a 50% chance of scattered showers, mostly in the morning, with highs near 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NNE at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with low humidity with highs in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny with low humidity with highs near 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NE at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny with highs around 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
