Flood Watch National Weather Service New York NY 205 PM EDT Sun Jul 9 2023 Northwest Suffolk-Northeast Suffolk-Southwest Suffolk-Southeast Suffolk-Northern Nassau-Southern Nassau- 205 PM EDT Sun Jul 9 2023 ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following areas, Northeast Suffolk, Northern Nassau, Northwest Suffolk, Southeast Suffolk, Southern Nassau and Southwest Suffolk. * WHEN...From 8 PM EDT this evening through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across the watch area this evening, continuing into the first half of Monday. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible with localized amount of 3 to 4 inches possible. These rainfall totals may result in flash flooding of urban and low lying areas.
