***3:50 AM post as today is all about the severe thunderstorm and tornado 🌪threat in the northeast, but I also have comments below about what's coming this week and next weekend and beyond.***
- Another hot and very humid day for many areas, including most of Long Island, and it will become really windy in the afternoon, especially along the south shore where gusts could be up to 40 mph by late afternoon.
- While there will be morning action for northern New England, the main line of strong to severe thunderstorms is for mid-afternoon into the evening from west to east. Even without tornadoes, there can be locally damaging wind gusts of 50 to 70 mph.
- Tomorrow becomes less humid and then Tuesday is low humidity, but it will be very warm to hot. The next cold front comes through Wednesday night into Thursday morning with showers and thunderstorms with heavy downpours possible Wednesday late afternoon/evening into early Thursday morning from west to east. Low humidity by Thursday afternoon, and Friday looks amazing with low humidity. Saturday still looks good, but maybe with increasing clouds and humidity for western areas as the next cold front comes through with showers and thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday with humidity, but then next Mon/Tues look great. If we can get lucky, the next cold front will come through Wed, July 3rd, and then we can get a nice 4th of July. Lots of time to watch that.
