- While there will be an insane severe weather threat well to our west today into tonight (4th image), there is now an increased severe thunderstorm threat for the northeast tomorrow into tomorrow night (5th image) with the potential for damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours.
- The details for Long Island are in the forecast below, but while there is a chance of a late afternoon shower as the warm front lifts northwest of us, most of the rain will be between 1 AM late tonight and 3 PM tomorrow with a lull after that with some partial sunshine possible late afternoon tomorrow and then heavier showers and possibly a thunderstorm as the cold front moves through tomorrow night between around 8 PM and 11 PM from west to east. Also, while it will be breezy this afternoon into tonight, the stronger gusts of 35 to possibly 45 mph are for tomorrow into tomorrow night with gusts to 30 mph into early afternoon on Sunday.

LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Partly sunny in the morning with increasing clouds in the afternoon and becoming breezy with a 20% chance of light scattered showers in the late afternoon and early evening with late afternoon highs just above 50 degrees in Nassau and in the upper 40's to near 50 degrees in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy and breezy with a slight chance of an early evening shower with the rain mainly arriving after 1 AM with areas of patchy fog possible with lows in the upper 40's and slowly rising into the low to mid 50's by morning. Wind out of the SSW at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.
Tomorrow: Windy with rain in the morning into early afternoon, moderate to heavy at times, with some patchy fog possible early and then a lull between around 3 PM and 7 PM with some partial sunshine being possible before heavier showers and thunderstorms between 8 PM and 11 PM from the cold front with gusty winds. Highs in the low to mid 60's in Nassau, low 60's in northwestern Suffolk, upper 50's in central Suffolk, and mid 50's in eastern Suffolk. Wind out of the SSW at 15 to 25 mph with max gusts of 35 to 45 mph.
Tomorrow night: Showers and thunderstorms with moderate to heavy downpours between around 8 PM and 11 PM with gusty winds and then becoming partly cloudy after 1 AM with temperatures dropping from the 50's in the evening to the upper 30's in Nassau and mid 30's in Suffolk. Wind out of the SSW early and then WNW after 11 PM at 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 35 to 45 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, breezy, and much cooler with highs around 50 degrees in Nassau and around 49 degrees in Suffolk, but only around 46 or 47 degrees for Montauk. Wind out of the NW at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph in the morning and slightly lower in the afternoon.
Monday: Mostly sunny and becoming breezy in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 50's in Nassau and low to mid 50's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower with highs in the low 60's in Nassau and around 60 degrees in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind from varying directions, but generally ESE 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with occasional showers with highs in the low 60's in Nassau and around 60 degrees in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SE/SSE at 10 to 20 mph.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a few showers possible with highs in the mid 60's in Nassau and low to mid 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 20 mph.
