***NAM and Euro shift snow to the coast! Tricky forecast as we have the clipper, inverted trough, and ocean storm! NWS showing 10% chance of up to 3 inches of snow for Long Island as NAM shows 3...

... to 5 inches in Suffolk and 5 to 10 inches for southeastern New England (not a forecast)! We also have the Arctic blast and a chance for light snow Christmas Eve night!***

- Very tricky forecast, so stay tuned for many posts today into tonight with the latest breaking developments from the models. Significant shift closer to the coast with the ocean storm from both the Euro and especially the NAM. The HRRR also has the snow for eastern MA, but not for Long Island. Keep in mind that while the NAM has snow for central to eastern Long Island Friday night, it doesn't really show any snow for Saturday morning from the trough, so it's a fairly low-confidence forecast right now. The National Weather Service offices have increased their snow amounts for Long Island, Rhode Island and eastern MA, and DownEast Maine.

- You all know about the very cold air coming in on Saturday into Monday. Temperatures gradually moderate for Christmas Eve and Christmas, but the models are showing a chance for some light snow on Christmas Eve, maybe in the afternoon or evening/night, possibly for southern to central areas of the northeast, and the Euro even has it a little farther south and includes Long Island (see 7th image), so stay tuned.

- Temperatures do warm up between Christmas and New Year's, but nothing too mild really, and colder air looks to work into the northeast during the beginning part of January.
