Strengthening Hurricane Ernesto with major impacts for Bermuda, thunderstorms, very warm days, wildfire smoke, the weekend, humidity, the very nice weather to come, and the tropics:

- Hurricane Ernesto continues to strengthen as it has maximum sustained winds of 85 mph and a minimum central pressure down to 979 mb and is on its way to likely becoming a major hurricane. It will slow down near Bermuda and maybe only slightly come down from peak intensity, but it will be basically a direct hit with the eye possibly passing only very slightly west of the island on Saturday.

- There will be some strong thunderstorms moving from north to south in New England today, and it's possible that a shower or thunderstorms reaches Long Island in the late afternoon or early evening. See 6th image for future radar for 4 PM today.

- There will be wildfire smoke moving from north to south in the northeast today and tomorrow, so some hazy skies should make it to Long Island, especially eastern Long Island tomorrow morning (see 4th image for 10 AM tomorrow).

- Very warm today and tomorrow for many areas of the northeast, followed by somewhat cooler weather this weekend and even next week!

- The weather will be somewhat unsettled with humidity, clouds, and periods of showers and thunderstorms at times from Saturday night into Monday night for Long Island, but Tuesday afternoon and the rest of next week will be less humid with some beautiful days!

- After Ernesto, no hurricanes are expected for at least the next 10 days!
