The main period with the best chance for showers and thunderstorm with the potential for a heavy downpour and gusty winds is later tonight, possibly between 10 PM and 2 AM.

Today: Partly sunny and very humid with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid to upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the SW/SSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Very humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms overnight with the potential for brief heavy downpours with lows in the low 70's. Wind out of the SW then WSW at 5 to 10 mph, but stronger winds are possibly in any thunderstorm.
Tomorrow (4th of July): Partly cloudy and very humid with more clouds and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening with the potential for a heavy downpour with highs in the mid to upper 80's in Nassau and in the mid 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 5 to 10 mph, but stronger winds are possible in any thunderstorm.
Tomorrow night: Chance of an evening thunderstorm, otherwise partly cloudy and very humid with lows around 70 degrees. Wind becoming light and variable at 5 mph or less.

Friday: Partly cloudy and humid with highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the SSE at around 10 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday: Partly sunny and humid with a 30% chance of an afternoon/evening showers or thunderstorm with highs in the low to mid 80's in Nassau and low 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at around 5 mph in the morning and then out of the ESE at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
