... the dry Long Island forecast with the heat coming!
- The National Hurricane Center is now up to 40% for the system about to come off the coast of Africa, and that's just a formality as they will keep increasing it as it is most assuredly destined to become a strong long-tracked hurricane. There was a very notable shift farther south and farther west in the Euro ensembles, so the northern and northeastern Caribbean islands need to keep a very close eye on this, but hopefully it will go a little to the north. Almost all of the Euro ensembles curve it north before getting to the east coast of the United States, but that is beyond day 10, so uncertainty increase. Of course, Bermuda will need to watch this one as well.
- Idalia is extra-tropical, but it's expected to regain tropical characteristics and affect Bermuda this weekend. It will curve northward and maybe affect Nova Scotia or Newfoundland a bit, but it's not expected to come back towards the northeast.
- Gert came back from the dead, and Franklin will absorb Jose. The system in the eastern Atlantic may briefly become Katia, which would make the big hurricane to come be named Lee probably.
- Dry weather continues for Long Island and the northeast with the much warmer to hotter and more humid weather for Labor Day and into the middle of the next week.
