Update on Bret and future Cindy and the not-so-great Long Island forecast:

- Tropical Storm Bret is still expected to become a minimal hurricane, but once it gets closer to and into the Caribbean Sea it will weaken considerably. There are still significant differences in strength and track between the higher-resolution hurricane models and the global models with the global models keeping it weaker and farther south.

- Invest 93L will become Cindy in the next couple of days, but it will curve northwestward well before getting near the Caribbean islands.

- For Long Island, cooler the next few days, especially on Thursday when there will be rain with highs probably only in the upper 60's (see last two images for maps for Thursday at 10 AM and 5 PM).

- The humidity really gets going on Friday, and it will stick around for a while with chances for showers and thunderstorms into next week, but it will be warmer with highs generally in the upper 70's to low 80's.
