Update on Debby with the inland track, rainfall amounts from last night, CA earthquake, the rain and wind, the nice weather coming, the Long Island forecast, and the potential for Hurricane Ernesto:

- There was a M5.2 earthquake last night in southern California, near Bakersfield.

- Some rainfall reports I saw had over 6 inches of rain in the Bronx, up to 4.5 inches in Nassau, and close to 4 inches in Suffolk.

- Debby is moving very slow with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and will make landfall in SC later tonight and still bring flooding rains to the Carolinas and interior VA and then up into inland areas of the northeast, including Vermont. I have posted rainfall maps below. Generally 2 to 4 inches for interior areas of the northeast and 1 to 3 inches for coastal areas.

- I have posted the Euro wind map below and generally there is the potential for wind gusts up to 35 to 45 mph and higher along the coast and at higher elevations inland.

- It will also become extremely humid on Friday with the tropical air mass.

- A brief period of potentially torrential rain will move through the coast overnight Friday night into very early Saturday morning. It looks like the rain will end before 7 AM Saturday on Long Island.

- Less humid behind the storm with much lower humidity with a mostly dry stretch of weather to follow into next week with temperatures mostly slightly below average.

- Ernesto may form late next week and head northward offshore the east coast of the United States. It's a long way out though.
