Update on the Fri night/ Sat system and the potentially more interesting storm for early next week!

- The quick little system from overnight left a coating of snow on the cars here in northern Nassau, so I would imagine that southern Nassau and southwestern Suffolk had up to a half-inch or possibly an inch, based on how the radar looked.

- The main theme for today into tomorrow night will be the wind, with gusts of 25 to 35 mph with the strongest being this afternoon through tonight.

- As for the early weekend storm, while the overnight GFS run has a snowstorm for Long Island Saturday afternoon/night, that is unlikely. There is much better agreement from the Euro ensembles in the system moving through and then strengthening well south of us and offshore. So, as of now, and this can be fine-tuned, it looks like rain arriving after 10:00 Friday night and possibly mixing with snow showers at times after midnight before becoming all rain by Saturday morning and ending around early afternoon or so.

- The potential storm for around Monday evening into early Wednesday morning looks more interesting. The new Euro run is showing a big northeast snowstorm. It had the track closer to the coast, but don't focus on the exact track at this point as the ensembles gives a better overall idea of the range of possible outcomes. Just for fun though, I included the Euro snow map for next Tuesday in the last image, and I have also included the 9-day snow maps from all 50 Euro ensemble members and the 50 maps for next Tuesday morning. Let's see how this evolves over the next few days, but it looks really interesting right now, and you know that I have been mentioning mid-March for a while now.
