Update on the Long Island forecast and the first northeast system today into tonight with snow to the north and then the big Wednesday storm/front with heavy rain and strong winds, especially...

... for the coast, with it ending as snow well inland and to the northwest.***

- We have the warm front system today with rain for Long Island this afternoon and early evening and snow to ice farther north. See 2nd image for future radar at 5 PM and the 8th image for the HRRR snow map.

- The big storm is for Wednesday with widespread moderate to heavy rain, especially eastern areas with generally to 2 to 3 inches of rain. The wind will be a big story for eastern areas where gusts can reach 60 mph from Montauk to coastal southeastern New England and coastal Maine. The rain will end as snow for areas well to the west and northwest, especially at elevation.

- Very cold behind the storm for Thursday into Saturday morning.

- Looks like rain later on Sunday.
