Update on the storm with rain/snow/wind in the northeast, the L.I. forecast, and the cold ahead:

- The details for Long Island are in the forecast below, but as I posted last night it will be a stormy evening/night ahead with heavy rain with a possible thunderstorm and wind gusts as high as 50 mph with the rain basically starting early this afternoon. There is also a coastal flood warning for southern Nassau for tonight from 9 PM to 2 AM.

- The snow amounts in the northeast have decreased, and I have posted the snow maps from the NWS and HRRR.

- It will be fair weather this weekend with some weak systems passing through the northeast into early next week with a chance of some scattered showers with light snow to the north.

- Then things start to get interesting with a system around mid-week with some snow well to the north, but then the colder air arrives behind the storm late next week, so next weekend will likely be very cold with highs possibly only in the upper 20's on Long Island with lows in the teens.

- Then we will watch for the slight chance for a potential storm around the 6th, but some ensembles even show a chance for snow next Friday, the 3rd, so there is a lot of uncertainty, and it will soon become the main focus.
