***Kirk to become a Cat 4 and have max gusts over 160 mph, Leslie may become a Cat 3 and could get closer to the northeastern Caribbean islands, potential Milton in the Gulf is a low chance, but a lot of rain is headed for Florida. Also, the Long Island forecast with a cooler air mass next week.***
- Hurricane Kirk is projected to peak with 140 mph maximum sustained winds and peak gusts over 160 mph. It will be turning north and then northeast and eventually head towards the UK and northern France.
- Leslie will become a strong hurricane and has a chance to become a major hurricane and get closer to the northeastern Caribbean islands (see the ensembles map below).
- While the NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center is down to a 30% chance of tropical development in the Gulf, it's still possible, but regardless of tropical development or not, a lot of rain is headed for southern to central Florida next week with the potential for localized amounts of close to 10 inches.
- The Long Island forecast is posted below with generally dry weather with the exception of a chance of a few showers very early Saturday morning and then some rain Monday morning from a strong cold front with dry and cool weather to follow next week with chilly nights.
