***Update on thunderstorms (today, Wed, Sat), hot and then cooler weather, Labor Day weekend, beautiful weather next week, and the slowly increasing hurricane (Francine) threat!***

- There's the strong to locally severe thunderstorm threat for this afternoon into early evening, mainly for southeastern New England and eastern Long Island (2nd image). Coverage is pretty scattered from the NAM and HRRR, so it will mainly just be radar-watching time this afternoon.

- Hot and humid Wednesday with a heat index near 100 degrees for New York City. A strong cold front comes through in the afternoon into evening with the potential for strong to locally severe thunderstorms (3rd image).

- Much cooler Thursday and Friday and less humid.

- Humid on Saturday ahead of the cold front with more thunderstorms, especially in the late afternoon and evening, depending on the exact timing of the front.

- Sunday and Labor Day look pretty good, and there will be a secondary cold front that will move through sometime between Sunday evening and Monday evening.

- Much cooler and less humid then next week from Tuesday to Friday with sunshine and comfortable temperatures!

- There is a slowly increasing chance for a hurricane to form by the end of next week with the chance for it to become a major hurricane. You can see the Euro ensembles and GFS ensembles for the next 15 days in the 4th and 5th images.
