Welcome to December!! More rain/wind Saturday and the sustained colder air arrives next week:

- The rain and wind on Saturday will mainly be from mid-morning to mid to late afternoon on Saturday, but it won't be quite as intense as yesterday with max gusts mainly 35 to 40 mph on Saturday.

- More showers likely on Tuesday, and then the colder air arrives Wednesday night and sticks around. Then we watch for snow chances around mid-month and beyond. The NAO will stay negative for the next few weeks and the PNA will trend towards neutral and may go positive around the middle of the month.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny and breezy/windy with highs in the low 40's. Wind out of the W to WNW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 to 30 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear and very cold with lows around 30 degrees in Nassau and upper 20's in Suffolk with some mid 20's possible in the Pine Barrens area. Wind decreasing from WNW at 10 to 15 mph in the evening to nearly calm by morning.

Tomorrow: Sunny with highs in the upper 40's. Wind nearly calm in the morning and then out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Increasing clouds with lows in the low 40's and then rising after midnight. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Rainy and windy, mainly from mid-morning to mid-afternoon with a passing shower possibly in the late afternoon or very early evening in Suffolk. Highs in the upper 50's. Wind out of the SSW at 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 35 to 40 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 40's. Wind out of the NW then W at around 10 mph.

Monday: Sunny in the morning and increasing clouds in the afternoon with highs in the upper 40's. Wind generally light and variable at around 5 mph.

Tuesday: Showers likely with highs in the mid 50's. Wind out of the S at 10 to 20 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy early and then partly cloudy with highs in the low 50's. Wind out of the NW at 10 to 15 mph.
