Wet and windy washout weekend is coming from potentially unnamed subtropical storm for Mid-Atlantic:

- Today will be absolutely beautiful, so enjoy it!

- High clouds move in tonight and gradually lower and thicken tomorrow with an easterly breeze keeping it a little cooler than today.

- It becomes downright windy tomorrow night as rain arrives on Long Island probably mainly between 1 AM and 4 AM.

- I have posted all of the rainfall maps below, and they go through Monday. Generally 2 to 3 inches of rain for Long Island with wind gusts up to 40 mph. The heaviest rain and strongest wind will be Saturday morning into afternoon as an inverted trough lifts north ahead of the main surface low. Then a bit of a lull is possible Saturday evening with mostly lighter (occasionally moderate) rain later Saturday night probably into Monday morning as the storm steadily weakens but only slowly pulls out on Monday, and it's possibly for lighter showers to linger into Monday evening. That's the basic thinking now, but stay tuned for tweaks, fine-tuning, and many more maps to come.

- This will also be an impactful storm for the North Carolina and central Mid-Atlantic coast with heavy rain and wind gusts possibly as high as 55 to 60 mph. The National Hurricane Center is only at a 40% chance of it becoming a subtropical storm, but that seems low. Whether it becomes named or not, it will have the effects of being a subtropical storm.

- Also, it still looks like a good chance of a hurricane forming in the Atlantic, but it should curve northward fairly early (see 3rd image).
