- As you know, I've been posting about this pre-Thanksgiving storm for over a week now.
- The details for Long Island are in the forecast below, and I'll post more maps this morning and timing videos from the new runs around mid-morning or so.
- The rain basically starts for Long Island between around 5 PM and 8 PM from west to east and become heavy, especially after midnight into tomorrow morning as a squall-line moves through early tomorrow morning and the wind increases later tonight into tomorrow morning with gusts up to 45 mph and possibly 50 mph or above for Montauk. Max wind gusts for coastal MA can reach 60 mph. In the HRRR max wind gust map below you can also see that the strongest winds will be at elevation, in addition to along the coast.
- Rainfall amounts can exceed 2 inches in areas on Long Island with the rain ending around 7 or 8 AM in Nassau and between around 8 AM and 10 AM from west to east in Suffolk, and maybe a little later f0r Montauk.
- I have also posted the snow maps from the NWS and HRRR in the 7th and 8th images.
- Tranquil weather then for Thanksgiving, but a little breezy.
- Saturday now looks dry and cold with highs only in the upper 30's on Long Island!
- The next system looks to be around Sunday night or Monday with some showers for Long Island.
